A Deeper Understanding of Standard of Living

Standard of Living

  1. A country's standard of living does not show how everyone in the country lives. The standard of living is an average so there is a lower part and a higher part to those averages. Also in sets of data there is outliers. Someone in a country could be making way more money than their country's GDP and someone could be unemployed and living in poverty and making way less money than their country's GDP.
  2. The most interesting thing I have learned about standard of living is leisure time has something to do with a country's standard of living. I never really thought about how much having time off from school or work contributes to how people feel because I think I just took that for granted. Some kids my age are working hard in factories or on farms while I am sitting and watching tv. I think it is unfair that some children can’t enjoy their childhood and instead they have to work.
  3. I think people with a high standard of living should help people with a low standard of living. If you have a good standard of living then it shouldn’t be a problem to help someone who isn’t doing as well but you have to help them in the right way. You can’t do everything for people with a low standard of living because they can’t just rely on other people. You have to instead give them the skills they need to get a high standard of living
